Freyja: Oct. 4, 1994 - March 13, 2006

Freyja, a cat Freyja never got along well with the kittens Monteigh and Minnie, siblings we got in 2000. She put up with them, sometimes, but, eventually, she stopped coming upstairs at night to sleep. She would meet us in the morning, usually on the stairs, and would follow us into the kitchen. One of her favorite spots was the garden window above the kitchen sink, and we'd feed her breakfast there before we'd make breakfast for ourselves. This morning, there was no one to great me as I went downstairs, and the window was all too empty.

We brought her home from the vet last Friday with all the gear to treat feline chronic renal failure. She responded to the initial treatment, so we had hopes that she would remain with us for some time to come. We weren't that lucky.

She was my first cat.

My very sincere sympathies. We've lost several cats to renal failure, and I can commiserate. You had a beautiful—and obviously beloved—friend.

So sad. What a lovely photo and name too. Sounds like she had a relatively long and very good life.

I lost my first cat last December to renal failure. What a striking beauty Freyja was. My deepest sympathies.

I'm sorry to hear about Freyja. May your memories, the "kittens," and the knowledge that cats are one of the joys in life temper the sadness of this news.

Thank you all for your kind wishes.

Yeah, all of a sudden something that was so mundane and usual is not there, and its absence looks like a two hundred foot billboard. Yesterday morning, it was very odd to travel to my grandfather's house and *not* see him in his chair.

I'm glad you have other cats. My folks waited three years between dogs about six years ago. They were obviously relieved when a new dog came along.

I am sorry to hear about your cat, my cat died from renal failure yesturday, that is how I found your post. Just curious, were you by any chance using a food that was recomended for urinary tract disorders? We found out today that there is some speculation of a connection between these types of foods and renal failure so i am trying to find out if there is anyone else that used the same food. Sorry again, it is so hard to watch them go through that and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
